Contact Jackson County Record Offices

Jackson County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, arrange a release, post a bond, or retrieve official booking records. Direct those requests to the appropriate government office below.

Jackson County Jail and Records Contacts

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is located at 212 W Wesley Street, Jackson, MI 49201. The main Sheriff’s Office number and Sheriff Records line are 517-768-7925. Sheriff Gary Schuette’s directory number is 517-768-7921. Records Division business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Jail information uses a separate contact chain. The county lists 517-768-4833 for jail information, 517-768-7900 for the Wesley Street Jail, and 517-768-1609 for the Chanter Road Jail at 1995 Chanter Road. For lodged status or bond prompts, the county FAQ directs callers to 517-768-7911. County pages contain more than one jail contact, so confirm the number and destination before relying on it.

For a sheriff record or booking-photo request, use the Sheriff Records Division and the county FOIA route. No special form is required, but a written request should describe the record. Jackson County generally responds within five business days and may take a written ten-business-day extension. Actual processing costs can apply, and a request estimated above $50 may require a deposit of up to half the estimate.

Choose the Right Official Route

Different records belong to different custodians. Start with the channel that matches the person’s custody stage or the agency that created the record.

  • For a county booking record, jail information, or the FOIA path, begin with the Jackson County booking and records overview.
  • For an active warrant or official most-wanted information, use Wanted Fugitives and the listed court or warrant contacts.
  • For Jackson, Brooklyn, or Grass Lake incident sources, select the relevant city page in the footer before requesting a police-held report.
  • For a court outcome after booking, use Jackson County’s MiCOURT case-information route. A charge at booking is an accusation, not proof of guilt.
  • For a sentenced state prisoner, use the Michigan Department of Corrections OTIS search. OTIS does not serve as a county-jail roster.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the official BOP inmate locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator.
